Bowling Alley

The July 11, 1902, Coffeyville Daily Journal stated that stores were being quarried and grading would soon begin for the country villa W.P. Brown was building on a hill at the south edge of Coffeyville. The article went on to say that a bowling alley would be included in the home, which would have a full basement.

In the basement, long halls stretch under the Mansion’s south and west verandas. The smooth cement floor of the south hall was at least for a time used as a bowling alley. After Donald’s death in 1911, it probably was used for storage and as a convenient place to hang the washing.
