As with any piece of art exposed to the elements, Don Sprague's murals suffer damage over time and require periodic restoration. The first mural restoration took place in 2004 when the Coffeyville Area Chamber of Commerce funded the restoration of the Dalton's on the Sidewalk mural.
Other restorations include:
The Kansas Wholesale Grocery mural was restored in 2005. This restoration effort was paid for by the 1st Annual Don Sprague Memorial Golf Tournament proceeds and a grant from Wal-Mart.
The Natatorium mural was also restored in 2005. This restoration was paid for by the Coffeyville Area Community Foundation.
The Walter Johnson/Little League mural was restored in 2006. This restoration was paid for by the proceeds from the 2nd Annual Don Sprague Memorial Golf Tournament.
In 2007, the Aviation History mural was restored with funds from the Coffeyville Area Community Foundation, the proceeds from the 3rd Annual Don Sprague Memorial Golf Tournament, and a grant from Wal-Mart.
